Obamacare will cause a surge in part-time employment, any minute now!

Just yesterday, November 11th 2014, the conservative “Power Line Blog” sang songs of doom and gloom for the Affordable Care Act (i.e. Obamacare), and predicted: “2015 is the year when the employer mandate begins to take effect (it is phased in over several years, depending on the size of the employer). As the mandate takes effect, many employers will either lay off workers or reduce their hours below 30 per week so that they are not eligible for health insurance, or they will terminate their plans altogether.”

It’s important to point out that the above quote is from YESTERDAY, since it essentially is the same prediction that conservatives made in 2010:

“Employers may decide to limit the number of full-time employees, favoring part-time employees instead.”

And in 2011:

Obamacare Will Price Less Skilled Workers Out of Full-Time Jobs

And in 2012:

Will ObamaCare turn us into a nation of part-time employees?

And in 2013:

Wendy’s Franchisee Slashes Employee Hours To Sidestep Obamacare

Yet, weirdly, when you look at the actual data on part-time employment, shown in this graph below made from an analysis of BLS data, they show that although part-time employment surged as a consequence of the 2008 recession, it has actually decreased slowly but steadily each of the years since Obamacare was signed into law.

Full time vs. part time employment and Obamacare a.k.a. the Affordable Care Act

Decreased each year… despite each year conservative pundits screaming that surely–without a doubt–Obamacare will lead us to a “part time economy.”

That’s why it is so notable that now, in 2014, we have yet another conservative blogger predicting that this time no really honest-to-goodness 2015 is the actual year it will happen! We will just see a skyrocket in part-time employment, because of Obamacare.

Really. This time. Any minute now!

You just wait.

GOP: “Please help make Obamacare fail so we don’t look like idiots!”

Conservatives! Gird up your loins. We’ve reached Defcon 1 and that sound you hear is Ronald Reagan’s legacy dying! But with your help we can turn this ship around before it runs aground on the rocks of public health and fiscal sanity.

Recently, the liberal media has been cranking out positive Obamacare news items… and if this keeps up, it could be a disastrous November. Now, if you think I’m over-reacting, you haven’t fully considered how the success of Obamacare undermines the central tenet of conservatism: government ruins everything.

Think back to last December, when the healthcare.gov website was a shambles, we could pretend that young people would never sign up, and that insurance companies would go out of business or double their premiums. Obamacare was going to mean the end of the world as we know it… and it felt great!

But now, the liberally-bias media is feeding us brazenly deceptive facts like these:

More people than expected have found coverage on exchanges

Costs are lower than originally estimated

The number of uninsured is falling

The number of companies providing insurance is growing

…and worst of all…

the cost of health care for everyone is rising slower than at any time in 50 years and slower than GDP

I’ll be honest, guys… it looks bleak.

But do not fear!

We at LiberalBias.com have composed a list of things you can do to serve this country, and turn the news around!

How To Help Republicans Save Face:

Get fired from your full-time job with benefits! It’s important that we report that Obamacare has caused massive unemployment which is getting harder now that unemployment is below 6%. So, sexually harass a coworker, embezzle sloppily, “accidentally” copy customers on insulting emails or keep a vial of cocaine on your key chain. This is a two-fer since unemployment goes up and so does the number of uninsured.

Get sick or injured! Think of it as a denial of service attack on the health care system. You know, like those anonymous guys do. If insurance companies see a sudden rise in injuries and illnesses, they’ll be forced to adjust premiums upward. Go rock-climbing with no safety lines. Ride without a helmet. Drink unfiltered water in Thailand. But remember, the cause needs your vote so steer clear of Ebola, HIV, drunk driving, being Black in St. Louis and other similarly deadly pursuits. You can vote from the hospital, but not from the morgue.

Move to a state without Medicaid expansion! Especially if you’ve done one or more of the above, this is liable to really ratchet up the urgency since refusal to expand Medicaid will likely cause 7,000-17,000 preventable deaths this year. Try to fine-tune your income so that you’re just above the federal Medicaid threshold, but below the income required to find coverage on the exchanges, otherwise you’ll end up with health care coverage.

Sell your Cigna stock! This is a tricky tightrope to walk. On the one hand, we need to prop up the story that insurance companies are collapsing under the mandate to insure the uninsurable. On the other hand, it’s equally important to paint the ACA as a “giveaway” to insurance company fat-cats, which would be, um, a bad thing <wink>. On balance, I think we need to make sure to stick to the conservative message that government does everything inefficiently, unfairly and in all other ways badly. We can’t have word getting out that government meddling has improved the market for health care.

So there you go! This should keep you patriots busy through the midterms. Next to suppressing the vote and inventing bad Obamacare news, creating bad Obamacare news is the most important thing you can do for your country this election season.

Don’t you care about America!?

Obamacare is really embarassing the GOP, but you can help

Five specific GOP predictions about Obamacare: TRUE OR FALSE?

Back before Obamacare was passed, good conservative Republicans made MANY DIRE PREDICTIONS about all of the things that would go wrong with Obamacare if it was made into law.

Well, most of Obamacare has now been implemented, so let’s see how accurate these predictions were! Specifically, the Commonwealth Fund has released the results of a new survey to find out what people’s real, true, actual experiences with Obamacare have been.

PREDICTION 1: Obamacare won’t really cover any new people!

Republicans were making the sensible prediction that all Obamacare would do is make lazy people even lazier by making the taxpayers pay for their insurance, but it would not actually insure more people.

Result:

Obamacare: Uninsured Rate Declines

(About 9.5 million adults gained new coverage, and that figure does not include children.)

PREDICTION 2: The coverage provided by Obamacare will be worse!

Republicans predicted that people will be worse off with Obamacare plans than they were before, because Obamacare is socialist and socialism is always bad.

Result:

Obamacare: people are better off

(Fifty-eight percent of those who signed up for Obamacare — either for Medicaid or private insurance — said that they were better off than they were before than had their new insurance plan.)

PREDICTION 3: People will hate the Obamacare plans!

Republicans were frantically going around finding people who didn’t like their new Obamacare plans in order to prove that everyone hated it.

Result:

Obamacare: most people like their coverage

(78% of the people surveyed reported being satisfied with their new Obamacare insurance.)

PREDICTION 4: People signing up won’t even use the coverage!

Obamacare will be forcing people to buy coverage that they won’t even use!

Result:

Obamacare: most people have used their coverage

(Three out of five enrollees have used their new insurance — most were people who couldn’t afford care before.)

PREDICTION 5: Obamacare will cause long lines and wait times, nobody will be able to get appointments!

Just like in Canada, right!?!?

Result:

Obamacare: most people got appointments quickly

(More than a third were able to get appointments within a week, more than half were able to get appointments within two weeks.)

SO WHAT IS THE VERDICT?

The Republican predictions about the failure of Obamacare are…. well, just look at the graphs!

I think “Close Enough!” pretty much captures it, don’t you?

The Definitive Republican Alternative to Obamacare REVEALED!

An artist's depiction of how conservatives write bills in Washington.
An artist’s depiction of how Republican alternatives to Obamacare are written.

Recently, President Barack HUSSEIN Obama announced that his government takeover of America’s healthcare system, the Affordable Care Act, allegedly reached its goal of enrolling over 7 million Americans. The Democrat party is touting this biased statistic as a sign that the law, which takes away your ability to make your own healthcare decisions while enabling women to get abortions in the aisles of dissenting Hobby Lobby stores.

While real conservatives like Paul Ryan and Bobby Jindal have proposed plans, their plans have all been criticized for containing elements that are either not conservative, or are unpopular, or both. I have been able to come up with a complete alternative to Obamacare that is both based on conservative principles and known to poll well with the American people!

My proposal, The Operations, Bandages, Acupuncture, Mammography and Sometimes Ultrasound X-Rays Act, or The OBAMASUX Act for short, is a comprehensive plan that fixes problems with the healthcare system in place before the so-called President had to mess everything up with the ACA’s sweeping shift to a government run system. It is backed up with research and findings from leading respected conservative institutions such as The Heritage Foundation and The Weekly Standard.

It is in absolutely no way similar to the Affordable Care Act, which does absolutely none of the things I am about to mention.

  • OBAMASUX works by providing health insurance to those who cannot afford it by giving them subsidies, which basically means lowering taxes to give people healthcare.
  • OBAMASUX does not regulate your health care decisions, but rather health insurance companies, which would continue to remain private businesses but also encouraged by law to support the public good.
  • Yearly check-ups, immunizations, and routine screenings for diseases will have no out-of-pocket cost, as they have been proven to decrease healthcare costs long-term.
  • Those with insurance through their employer will not have to change plans, as long as they meet minimum coverage standards and their insurance company does not discontinue that plan structure, as they have always done.
  • Rather than gutting Medicare or Medicaid, OBAMASUX expands these popular programs, allowing more elderly and lower-income families to receive medical services.
  • Businesses with over 100 full-time employees will be strongly encouraged to provide health insurance to those employees.
  • Young people under the age of 26 will be able to stay on their parents’ insurance plans.

All of these elements would take the world’s greatest healthcare system and carry it into a bright, prosperous future. Barack Hussein Obama knows this, and with the help of conservative patriots like you, we can force him to repeal Obamacare and enact these reforms.

Hobby Lobby pays to kill innocent babies by forced abortion in China

Hobby Lobby says they are Christian. They say they love God. They claim that the reason they don’t want to pay for employee health insurance is that some of that money might end up paying for someone’s abortion, and they hate abortion. This is their argument:

1) If we pay for health insurance for our employees, that money goes into a pool of money that the health insurance company has to pay for things.

2) If that health insurance company covers abortions, then they might take some money out of that pool and give it to a hospital that performed an abortion.

3) Therefore, if we pay for health insurance for our employees it is the same as if we were paying for abortions.

Hobby Lobby thinks that paying for insurance that pays hospitals that pays doctors who perform abortions is like paying for abortions.
Hobby Lobby thinks that paying for insurance that pays hospitals that pays doctors who perform abortions is like paying for abortions.

As a result, they object, because they don’t want to pay for abortions.

This style of argument is common. This is the same logic that we use to deny public funding to Planned Parenthood, even though only a teeny tiny fraction of what Planned Parenthood does has anything to do with abortion.  The logic is like this:

1) If public money goes to Planned Parenthood, then it goes into  a big bucket with all of their other money.

2) Some part of the money in that bucket might get used to pay a doctor who performs an abortion.

3) Therefore, if any public money at all goes to Planned Parenthood in any way, then it is the same as if we are paying for abortions.

Using tax money to pay Planned Parenthood who might use some of that money to pay a doctor to perform an abortion is like paying for an abortion.
Using tax money to pay Planned Parenthood who might use some of that money to pay a doctor to perform an abortion is like paying for an abortion.

As a result, we object to public money going to Planned Parenthood, because we don’t want to pay for abortions. As you can see, the logic is impeccable.

Unfortunately, THERE IS A PROBLEM!!!!

Hobby Lobby buys some of its materials from Chinese companies! Now, everybody knows that Chinese companies pay money to the Chinese government in taxes, and the Chinese government forces women in China to have abortions.

Notice, this follows exactly the same logic:

1) If Hobby Lobby pays companies in China for their products, then that money goes into a big pool of money owned by the Chinese company.

2) If that Chinese company pays taxes, then some of their tax money will go toward GOVERNMENT-FORCED ABORTIONS IN CHINA.

3) Therefore, when Hobby Lobby buys products from China it is exactly as if Hobby Lobby is FORCING CHINESE PEOPLE TO GET ABORTIONS.

When Hobby Lobby buys products made in China it is exactly as if they are forcing Chinese women to have abortions.
When Hobby Lobby buys products made in China it is exactly as if they are forcing Chinese women to have abortions.

Clearly, as you can see, the logic is the same.

So, Hobby Lobby, I ask you this:

Why do you hate babies?

Why do you hate God?

Don’t you realize that the only way to be Godly–using the logic that you are using to deny employees health insurance–is to make everything yourself and not interact with the world economy at all?

Honestly, Hobby Lobby. I thought you were better than this.

Baby-killers.

Obamacare: conservative logic versus liberal facts

WE HATE HEALTH CARE!You are a conservative. You know how to use your brain. You believe things because you have thought them through, and they make sense to you. They seem logical. Unlike liberals, who believe things that totally make NO SENSE AT ALL, just because they have “statistics” to back them up.

Nowhere is difference between conservatives and liberals more apparent than with Obamacare. Let’s take a look.

CONSERVATIVE LOGIC: Employers will reduce their number of full-time employees in order to avoid the costs associated with Obamacare. We will become a part-time employment nation!
LIBERAL FACTS: The  Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has found that part-time workers in the U.S. fell by 300,000 since the Affordable Care Act became law.  In just the past year, full-time employment grew by over 2 million.
VERDICT: Conservative logic sounds good, so it must be right. The statistics must have liberal bias.

CONSERVATIVE LOGIC: Millions and millions of people are losing their health insurance because of Obamacare! I know it must be true because I keep hearing these stories!

LIBERAL FACTS: The fact is, millions and millions of people had their policies cancelled every year, before the Affordable Care Act came into being. On average, only 17 percent of people ever retained coverage for more than two years prior to the Affordable Care Act becoming law. After the ACA became law, by contrast, only a relatively small number of people have been asked to change insurance policies because their existing policies were not compliant with the new standards:
Survey of cancellations since Obamacare

VERDICT: I heard tons of horror stories on T.V. This obviously outweighs these actual numbers. Numbers have a liberal bias.

CONSERVATIVE LOGIC: There will still be uninsured people after Obamacare is fully implemented. The whole point of Obamacare was to insure everybody. Therefore, Obamacare was completely pointless and achieved nothing.

LIBERAL FACTS: The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index shows that 15.9 percent of American adults are now uninsured, down from 17.1 percent for the end of 2013.  That is about 3 million to 4 million people who have coverage now who did not have it before.  The total number of Americans without health insurance is projected to reach its lowest number since 2008.

Plus, it is worth looking at why some of the people who remain uninsured got that way. There are currently 5 to 8 million people who can’t access Medicaid because their Republican political leaders oppose Obamacare. This isn’t a failure of Obamacare, it is a direct result of obstruction from conservatives. Nothing makes this more obvious than looking down at the breakdown by state of the total number of uninsured people before and after the implementation of the Affordable Care Act: notice that those states that opted in show dramatic reductions in uninsured citizens, while states that opted out do not show the same reduction: Uninsured numbers by state before and after Obamacare

VERDICT: All these numbers are confusing. The bottom line is that some people still aren’t insured, which means Obamacare didn’t solve every single problem, which means it was pointless and a complete failure. How can you argue with that kind of logic?

Clearly, you can’t.

This letter proves gay marriage will destroy the health care industry

CHAOS has been created by gay marriage in the California health care system
CHAOS has been created by gay marriage in the California health care system
This is an actual letter from Kaiser Permanente. Because Mark is covered under his spouse’s insurance, and his spouse is male, the health insurance system made a very understandable mistake.

One of the things that so-called “gay rights activists” never adequately address is the mass confusion it will cause in our society if we can’t make absolute assumptions about the gender of people’s spouses.

For example, consider a man in California named John. John is insured with Kaiser Permanente, which also offers coverage for spouses. Kaiser Permanente knows that John is married, and that John is male. Therefore, something in their automatic systems decided it just made sense to send the above letter to John’s spouse.

Except that John’s spouse is a man named Mark.

Sure, you probably find the above letter very funny, but obviously this is the strongest argument against gay marriage yet!

I mean, none of the other arguments have worked out.

Science has shown that gay people are no worse at being parents, no more likely to be deviant or criminal, no more likely to be abusive, and no more likely to be unhealthy than straight people.

It turns out that our constitution actually isn’t based on the Bible and what certain Christians believe, so all of the “proof” in the world that God hates gay people actually can’t be used as an argument to make gay marriage illegal.

And more and more people are actually realizing that gay people are happy, normal, healthy friends of theirs.

So what is left? Form letters!!

We cannot allow gay marriage in the United States because a bureaucratic nightmare that will ensue if we have to reprogram all of the systems, like the one that generated this letter, that all assume that people are married to people of the opposite sex!

That’s really the best argument …. the only argument… that conservatives really have left.

People’s opinions of healthcare have a liberal bias!

Opinions of the healthcare systemEverybody in the United States loved the way our healthcare system was before Obamacare came along. So how DARE this graph suggest otherwise?

If you listen to truthful radio programs, like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin, then you know that every single citizen of the United States believes that we have the most amazing perfect health care system in the world. They are constantly telling their listeners that our health care system is the BEST, there is nothing wrong with it, and that it is stupid for Obama to try to change something that was perfect to begin with.

The guests on their show all, without exception, call in so that they can tell Sean and Rush and Mark that their health insurance was more awesome than angel kisses and more colorful than a unicorn’s ass, and they are just pissed off that Obama wanted to come along and make it different.

So how is it possible that this survey shows that the overwhelming majority of Americans believe that the U.S. healthcare system is fundamentally flawed?

I don’t know where these surveys are getting their “numbers” or “facts” or whatever you want to call it… but clearly, this survey must have some kind of liberal bias!!!

This graph shows that Obamacare has succeeded, so NOBODY LOOK AT IT.

Uninsured Young AmericansThis graph shows that Obamacare has already succeeded. Luckily for good conservatives everywhere, most people do not understand that this is what it means, and the media is just plain clueless.

Obamacare, you see, is not a website. It is not a specific insurance plan. It is not some kind of utopian state of existence in which nobody ever suffers at all.  It is simply a collection of laws.

One of those laws came into effect in 2010, and guaranteed that young people could stay on their parents’ insurance plans until the age of 25. The goal was to reduce the high rate of uninsured individuals in this group, caused primarily by the high rate of unemployment in this age group.

And it worked. It worked completely. It closed the gap, so that now 19 to 25 year-olds are no more likely to be uninsured than older young adults (26 to 24 year olds).

It worked completely… but lucky for conservatives, it worked silently.

There was no fanfare. There was no big announcement. There were no press conferences. The law simply set out to solve a problem… and solved it.

And this law was part of Obamacare.

Obamacare – at least part of it – was a total success. Luckily, nobody noticed. People are convinced that the entire existence of Obamacare hinges on a website and some abstract “future thing” that hasn’t happened yet. And isn’t that just the way we conservatives want it to be?

Plus, the graph is just so tiny. Look at that tiny graph.  It’s really better if you just ignore it completely.

Ted Cruz has a liberal bias!

If you’ve been reading my column on Liberal Bias, you probably think you have me figured out. I’m just a dyed-in-the-wool conservative patriot who knows that the Democrat party and their atheist Muslim leaders from China would take us over if it weren’t for the courage of corporations that protect us from having healthcare by cutting our hours.

So I know what you’re thinking: “Zach must love Ted Cruz! He’s standing up for my right to not have health insurance because I have a pre-existing condition!”

Well you would be WRONG. I do not like Ted Cruz one bit. You want to know why? Because Ted Cruz is a LIBERAL.

Ted CruzBy the time this is published, the government will have shut down because the Republicans in the House of Representatives will have done the right thing by letting the Democrat party foolishly believe that you enact change by winning elections.

They’ll cry because it is “insane” to hold the government hostage in order to repeal a law because “that’s what elections are for.”

Just because this is not how it is supposed to be done means nothing! We are innovators…no, liberators!

Despite what the liberal skewed polls say, the American people will see us as liberators, and if they don’t, we will just have to remind them that the Iraqis were supposed to see us as liberators, and look what happened to them! Do the American people want to be sucked into another neverending war? I didn’t think so.

Many are arguing that this beautiful government shutdown couldn’t have happened without Ted Cruz. I will give him credit for that; 94% of the EPA has been furloughed while only 18% of the Department of Defense has. There has arguably not been more freedom in America during this government shutdown since Ronald Reagan gave us eight of the best years out of the 6000 years we have been on God’s favorite planet.

In the days leading up to the shutdown, Cruz spoke on the Senate floor for 21 hours, obstructing his fellow liberal Harry Reid from doing his job as Senate Majority Leader. Normally I would love this, but I see what’s really going on here.

To know who Ted Cruz really is, you have to know where he came from. According to NBC News, Ted Cruz was born in CANADA. Normally I wouldn’t cite any “news” source that isn’t World Net Daily (I will reveal next week how Fox News has been infiltrated by the Democrat party, stay tuned!), but if anybody would know who is a Canadian socialist, it’s NBC.

If there is any place worse than Kenya, it’s Canada. There, healthcare is treated like a basic human right, and treatment is free. This atrocity is known as a single-payer system, and it is the result of socialism taking over and transforming them from our neighbor to the north into the worst thing you could ever be: FRENCH.

So why would a socialist like Ted Cruz want to destroy Obamacare? There is only one possible explanation. While the Affordable Care Act is the equivalent of 860 billion September 11ths, it’s NOTHING compared to what they have in Canada.

Like it or not, there are still a few things good about Obamacare. The insurance companies will make more money now than they ever have now that they have millions of more customers. That sounds way better than what Ted Cruz would try to push if he was successful getting rid of Obamacare. Can you imagine a system where anyone who needs healthcare can just walk in and get it? Where our tax dollars go toward making sure nobody would be turned down for care? What a nightmare.

AND ANOTHER THING, I’m not even sure that Ted Cruz is really who he says he is. Have you LOOKED at him? He looks like somebody wearing a Ted Cruz mask. It wouldn’t surprise me if he were a member of the Reptilian Elite. I mean… JUST LOOK AT HIM!

Wake up, sheeple.

The tale of GOPlocks and the three Healthcare Plans

Once upon a time there was a little political party called GOP-locks. She lived at the edge of the forest with her family. One morning, while she was out picking flowers, she realized that there were a whole crapload of poor and unhealthy people who couldn’t afford health care.

For many decades, GOPlocks tried to just ignore the desperately poor people who were dying because they couldn’t afford health care. Eventually, though, she realized that she needed to make a plan.

So she walked into a house that someone else had built (GOP-locks didn’t build houses, although she did approve of other people doing so), and the looked at the dining table to see that it had already been set.  There, laid out in three bowls on the table, were three possible Healthcare plans.  She decided to try a little bit of each one.

She sat down and looked at the first health care plan. It filled the bowl all the way to the top. She said: “This health care plan covers everybody. But that will never work, because it’s too expensive! I could never afford a health care plan that covers everybody!”

She moved over to the next health care plan, which was in a bowl that was only part-way full. She said: “This health care plan covers only some people. But that’s not fair! That’s death panels! I simply cannot accept a health care plan the covers only some people!

Finally, she moved over to the last bowl, which was completely empty. She said: “Aaaahhh…. this plan is not expensive, and it is completely fair!  This health care plan covers nobody, and is JUST RIGHT!

That is the end of the tale of GOPlocks and the Three Healthcare Plans.

Obamacare: pros and cons

Glenn McCoy Monster Cartoon

There has been a lot of good news for Obamacare lately, which is obviously bad news for people who support Freedom, Liberty, and other capitalized words.

Glenn McCoy Monster Cartoon
Cartoon by Glenn McCoy

So in the interest of being fair and balanced, we have decided to present to you a side-by-side comparison of some good news headlines and quotes about Obamacare next to the bad news headlines and quotes about Obamacare.  When you look at it this way you will see that Obamacare, much like Global Warming and Evolution, is something with two points of view and obviously every perspective is valid so it’s impossible to decide anything, ever.

Pro Obamacare: “8.5 million people got an average of a $100 in rebates last year.” — CNN

Pro Obamacare: “In South Florida, 83,700 young adults have been able to stay on their parents’ insurance plan, 75,800 senior citizens are getting discounts on their medicine, and 1.4 million patients are getting preventive care without co-pays or deductibles.” — Sun-Sentinel

Pro Obamacare: “The number of double-digit rate increases requested by health insurers has plummeted over the past four years.” — Washington Post

Anti Obamacare: “Obamacare is going to make the emerging doctor shortage in America a lot worse.” — EndOfTheAmericanDream.com

Anti Obamacare: “[Obamacare] will destroy the very health and wellbeing of… millions of hardworking Americans.” — National Review

Anti Obamacare: “The Ohio Department of Insurance predicts premiums in 2014 will rise by 88 percent, a direct result of President Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.” — Independent Journal Review

As you can see from these examples, there are just as many negative effects as there are positive effects of Obamacare. It’s pretty much up in the air, undecided, and indeterminate. Who can decide?

Of course, some people might point out out that the good points about Obamacare are things that actually have already happened, while the bad points about Obamacare are all speculations about what might or might not happen in the future.

But we don’t listen to those people… they just have liberal bias.

Massive Obamacare surge in part-time employment!

Massive part-time employment surge

Massive part-time employment surgeYou have probably read on conservative websites about the massive surge in part-time employment that is obviously due to Obamacare.

Because we here at LiberalBias.com like graphs, we thought we would show you the surge on a graph so that you can see it for yourself.

As you can clearly see, this massive surge is the biggest surge ever, and must clearly be due to the fact that Obamacare is destroying America.

Previous surges on the above graph, for example those that occurred during the Bush administration, are probably also due to Obamacare…. although we are still trying to figure out how.

The fight to defend upper-middle class young white males!

Who has individual insurance plans?

Who has individual insurance plans?A very interesting article appeared today on ProjectMillenial.org, explaining why it is critical for the GOP to stand up for the rights of a terribly down-trodden group in our society: upper-middle-class and upper-class young white males.

First, let’s examine what this graph tells us. This shows the number of single, childless adults who are in the individual health insurance market, divided into three broad age groups: 19-25, 26-30, and 31-35.  These groups are important, because it has long been known that the people who will see the biggest increases in their rates under the Dreaded Obamacare are young (19-25 year old) males.

This is part of a very well-known phenomenon: “Obama’s war on bros“. Over and over again, good conservatives have pointed out that 25 year old men will bear the brunt of the Obamacare rate increases.

If you are paying very close attention, you might ask this question: “Where does “upper-middle-class” enter the picture? Isn’t Obamacare a war on all young people?”

Well, not really.  This is where the red bars in the above graph come into play.  The differently-colored bars indicate different income levels, and the red bars represent those people who have income that is low enough that they qualify for government assistance under the terms of Obamacare.

As you can see, it  turns out that most young people who are part of the individual health insurance market also quality for government assistance, because they make less than 138% of the Federal Poverty Line (FPL), which is the cut-off for people in this group to receive the Medicaid Expansion proposed as part of the Obamacare package.

Of course, everyone knows good conservatives hate government assistance, and hate Medicaid in particular. So much so, in fact, that almost all of the good conservative states have opted to not implement the Medicaid expansion (PDF).

Which means that these conservative states could shield these young people from the dreaded Obamacare Rate Increases, simply by implementing the Medicaid expansion portion of the Obamacare package…

“…..but, you know what?,” Republican Governors across the country have said, “We’re not gonna do that.”

Because in the end, the amount that we hate “government assistance” far outweighs the amount that we care about poor young people.  (After all, most of them aren’t even white!!)

So, in conclusion: Republicans really, really care about the terrible burden that Obamacare will create for young, non-poor white guys. This will make a great rallying cry for 2014.

…..now if only young people cared about Republicans, in return, it could be the start of a great relationship!

Health insurance rate hikes have a liberal bias!

Health Insurance Rate Hikes have liberal bias!

Health Insurance Rate Hikes have liberal bias!

This graph shows that the number of double-digit health insurance rate hikes has dramatically dropped since Obamacare took effect. This must be a lie, since it contradicts conservative values.

According to a report from the Obama administration, in both 2009 and 2010 more than 70% of health insurance rate hikes were in the double digits (i.e. more than 10%). However, in 2011 a portion of the Obamacare legislation kicked in that required all health insurance companies to get approval for any rate hikes more than 10%. As you can see in the graph above, this is when the number of actual double-digit rate hikes began a dramatic decline.

The problem with this graph is that is seems to suggest that Obamacare is actually helping. Some people might look at this graph and think that the new government regulation was actually having a positive effect, by making fewer health insurance companies jack up their prices by huge amounts.

Conclusions like that are, obviously, unacceptable.

Instead, you should simply ignore this graph and focus on the fact that THERE EXISTED SOME rate hikes that were more than 10% in the past year.  After all, if there are at least some of these double-digit hikes, then that means that Obamacare didn’t stop the problem completely and therefore is a total and utter failure in every way.

It works best when accompanied by a headline like this one from the Daily Mail:

Obamacare fails to stop health insurance rates from skyrocketing by double digits…despite claims it would make health care cheaper

As you can see, this kind of headline is perfect for highlighting conservative values, because we can keep using it even if just a single health insurance company has an 11% increase.

Doing anything else, like looking at overall trends over time rather than just hand-picked examples, is just a way to fall victim to liberal bias!!!!
